So, I’ve (Ashley) decided to get involved in this blog thing. Likely not on a full time basis, but more of a one time event. I would be writing this post in a few days, however, the wife and I will be at Disney celebrating our anniversary. It is hard to believe that just a year ago we were sitting on our office floor trying to stuff guest folders and make table names for the reception! It is incredible all the things that have happened in the past year. I feel like having light saber battles in the hotel room with Morgane and getting up way too early to get ready and take pictures all just happened yesterday.
It is hard to believe, but I wasn’t nervous at all, and usually I’m not one for being in front of the group, but the morning was nothing but fun, from jumping off everything at Epcot,
to ‘hiding’ while the guests came in,
the whole morning was wonderful and is still crisp in my mind. Once the ceremony started though, it was all a blur until it was over. I vaguely remember pouring the sand
and saying our vows,
but only as a distant idea. As soon as I heard the light parade music and I saw our awesome planner, Carol, everything became clear again.
We took some posed ‘leaving’ shots,
and then all sorts of pictures with family and friends.
While it was all fun and nice to celebrate with everyone, it was starting to get hot, and I remember wishing that this part would be over with, so that Mandi and I could be alone for a little bit (or as alone as you can be with a photographer following you around everywhere). After the bus took off behind Epcot to the reception, we finally got some time alone to take some pictures.
It was almost surreal to be walking around a near empty Epcot and know that we had just gotten married.
After a quick photo shoot (hurry we have to get the park ready!!!) it was time to head to the reception!
When we got there, we were escorted to a room on the ground floor (the reception was on the floor above) where we got a chance to relax and eat some of our delicious reception food and meet our d.j. Then we got to head up to the reception in the elevator, which apparently was a big event, since when we told the guests about the elevator later, none of them knew what we were talking about. They apparently came in a different way.
When we got upstairs there was some time for us to talk and socialize with the guests,
and see our wonderful cake.
Then the wedding party was announced,
and we got ready to eat! The food was all amazing, but I was glad that I got to enjoy it all at our tasting as my stomach was too nervous/excited for me to feel like eating too much.
After the food, Minnie arrived. She was the hit of the party and it was so fun to see everyone get so into having a mouse at the reception.
Then it was time for CAKE!! Yum.
After cake there was time for a few more photos and then it was already time for the reception to end. One of the marvelous helpers took our park tickets up to the front so that we could just leave the reception and walk around the park. We spent the rest of the day enjoying Epcot in our wedding attire,
and getting lots of pictures with as many characters as we could.
After dinner we returned back to our Beach Club room to find a surprise!
It was a wonderful ending to a perfect day!
It seems hard to believe that all of that took place a year ago. It seems like Mandi and I have been married and together forever. Everyone always said that things were different after you got married, and I thought yeah right, and for a while after the ceremony I didn’t really believe it. However as time goes by, and especially after the legal marriage in December, things really do seem different, more intertwined, more cohesive, more wonderful.
Happy anniversary to my wonderful and amazing best friend and wife. I love you more and more every day. You are my everything and the best thing ever!
