Every spring in Macon there was a Cherry Blossom Festival at Wesleyn College. I remember getting up early and driving to the college which was only about 10-15 minutes from our house. They started the festival by launching hot air balloons. We would get there early and put out a blanket on the hill that overlooked the field and watch the balloons fill up and finally lift off the ground. It was amazing to watch as a kid. Of course, I’ve lived in Florida for about 12 years now and haven’t been to the festival in probably 15 years. Ashley never went to anything like that as a child despite it being her wish to go for a ride in a hot air balloon. Luckily, this weekend we were able to go to the New Smyrna Beach Balloon Fest. It was a great event and admission was free thanks to their sponsers. We went to the night time Balloon Glow on Friday night and to the launching Saturday morning. Both were fantastic. We took tons of pictures and just watched the people and balloons getting ready to take off. Here are some of the photos from the Balloon Glow:
The launch on Saturday morning:
As we left the Fest around 7:30am Saturday morning, we noticed that some of the balloons were having trouble staying up and on our route home we discovered a few that were having to land in people’s yards so we stopped to take photos of that, too.
